With autumn fast approaching, temperatures dropping and color palates changing, you may be starting to think of changing up your home décor for the upcoming season. With more time being spent indoors, creating a cozy, comfortable environment can be a fun way to welcome fall. One of the easiest (and budget friendly) ways to start transitioning your home décor can be changing up your mantel. We’ve compiled some unique ideas to decorate your mantel, choose one or combine a few to create the perfect fall mantel design for your home.
Add everything from wheat, leaves, acorns, stems, branches, and other foliage to the mix. These can be real or artificial, depending on the look you are going for. Scatter them about or add vases, jars, or pitchers for a unique fall arrangement.
Oh My Gourd!
Pumpkins, everyone’s favorite go-to fall scent, beverage and dessert. Grab both large and small pumpkins and squashes and add them to your mantel as a stand-alone piece, or consider placing them in a metallic basket, glass vase or wooden bowl. For a more colorful addition, try painting your gourds gold, silver or even a bright blue color.
Add A Sign
Nothing says fall more than literally spelling it out. Add a fun fall, autumn or harvest inspired sign to your mantel for a modern look. You can use a chalkboard or letter board to add your own unique twist to a simple saying.
A fun DIY fall décor can be gathering leaves from your own yard and placing them in frames. You can do a rub-on effect, place a page from a book behind them, or even take inspiration and draw one your own leaves or foliage for your frames. To keep in the fall theme, try using brown, gold, red, or beige colored frames to highlight your work of art.
The Apple Orchard
With autumn comes the crispness of apple season. Not only can they go in your pies, but they look great on your mantel. Try using wooden pedestals, bowls or a cake stand to give elevation to these glorious galas or fruitful Fujis.
With Halloween coming up quickly, and mantel changes can sometimes be hectic in the throw of the season, try combining both elements into one. Add ghosts, ghouls, bats or spiders to your leaves and pumpkins, or even a string of orange and black lights and spiderwebs.
Try wrapping candles or vases in a piece of burlap or add a runner or a fall-inspired sign with a burlap backing to the mix to really bring in that rustic autumn feel.
